Your new home has an existing home security system
Many times after you purchase a house, you’ll find that the previous owners left a security system. All the components work, are hung in the right places, and are ready to go. In this instance, all you might have to do is to call and set up a new monitoring contract. A Vivint installer will still come out to make sure there are no usability issues, and they may offer ideas on upgrades. It's a fast trip, and you can get your monitoring set up without having a bill for any new devices -- unless you make additions.
The outgoing owners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time transfer cost to make the transfer easier. If the outgoing residents downsize to an apartment or retirement community, transferring the security service may be an addendum of the sale.
You want to move and take your home security components with you
You may want to bring your favorite Vivint system with you to a new house when you move. That’s fairly easy to transfer, as most smart devices are portable. You can uninstall each component by yourself or use a professional installer to take care of your devices. Then a pro will put in the same features -- and any new things you need -- in the new place. And your home security contract will keep the same.
